Out of My Mind - July 14, 2005

The phoebes are getting bigger--below are pictures of the four hatchlings taken on July 12, along with pictures of the parents feeding them (July 14) and one of the parents in the hollyhock. The final one is of the first hatchling who will fly, probably tomorrow. Apparently, only one hatchling at a time grows large enough to fly. I wondered how so many babies could fit in that tiny nest if they all grew at the same rate! There will be more pictures--keep checking back.

As a final note tonight, let me pay tribute to my dog, Ginger. She lost her battle with cancer today and will be greatly missed. She has been a faithful companion, watchdog, and protector since she was adopted in 1998. I know she is running free and happy in heaven with those who have gone before her. I love you, Ginger--you are always in my heart.
